FAQ

What is Cryotherapy?

Also known as cold therapy, Cryotherapy is the use of cold temperatures to treat a variety of medical issues. At MaryJane’s we use localized Cryotherapy to remove inflammation to treat muscle and joint pain.

How does Cryotherapy work?

Cryotherapy lowers the temperature of the tissue and slows down the collection of blood in the tissues. During treatment, the cold temperature removes inflammation, and reduces swelling. Once treatment ends, the Central Nervous System (CNS) sends oxygenated blood to the treated area, providing an improved state of healing or recovery.

What can Cryotherapy do for me?

Cryotherapy helps with pain caused by soft tissue damage through injury or overuse. Cryotherapy also treats muscle and joint disorders such as arthritis and provides faster recovery from athletic injuries.

How does the thermal cycle work?

The thermal cycle works by first warming and loosening your muscles. Next a cold therapy is recommended to give your body a “thermal shock”. The thermal shock sends a signal to the Central Nervous System which causes veins to vasodilate, sending oxygen rich blood into the body. The oxygen rich blood provides nutrients the body needs to begin to heal itself.

Why is the spa named Mary Jane’s Awe Spa?

As a CBD spa, I wanted to advertise the fact that we have CBD without being “in your face” about it. There are many spas offering CBD treatments now, and for good reason. I just figured we would advertise it a bit differently.

Why should I buy packages for Celluma or Cryofacial’s?

While you will notice a tightening of the skin immediately following a Celluma or Cryotherapy treatment, there is no denying the fact that with more use, comes greater results. For that reason, we suggest purchasing Celluma and Cryotherapy Facial packages of six or ten treatments.

Should I leave a tip?

Yes, please consider leaving a small tip for your attendant. While our attendants are not licensed therapists, they are very much needed and we could not do this without them. If you feel you enjoyed a clean, well taken care of atmosphere, showing a little appreciation is, well, appreciated.

Why isn’t massage included?

Massage is not included in the price of the thermal cycle, because we want to be able to pay our excellent therapists well, so we can retain excellent therapists. A good bodyworker is worth her/his weight in gold, and at Mary Jane’s we value them. A 20% tip is customary and appreciated, but feel free to leave a little extra, if you feel you received exceptional care.
